The palace is situated at Mattanchery 8 Kms away from Ernakulam town. It is called Dutch, although it was built by the Portuguese and then presented to the Maharaja of Cochin in the year 1555. In the centre of the building is the coronation hall. Murals depicting scenes from the Indian Epic of 17th century and Ramayan can be seen here.
